Workshop Description: Good writing doesn’t just happen! Participants will learn where to start, how to outline ideas, and what elements are vital for playwriting. These workshops will aim to be low-stress, to support the other participants, to see demonstrative improvement in your writing skills and have fun with your writing. We want you to achieve real progress - from page to stage!
Target Audience: Beginner and intermediate playwrights seeking to add tools to their creativity toolkit. Suggested age 16+
Learning Objectives: Participants will develop and refine an original play by learning foundational playwriting techniques, practicing revision, and engaging in constructive feedback in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Workshop Length: 8 hours (2 hours on Thursdays September 24th - October 15th | Reading of creations on Thursday November 12th).

About the Facilitator:
Kathleen Kenney Peterson is a novelist, freelance writer, and playwright in Winona, MN, with an M.A. in English Language and Literature. She has had numerous short and full-length plays produced in SE Minnesota (see list below). She teaches writing workshops in Winona and does freelance writing and editing.
Kenney Peterson has two published novels: Girl on the Leeside (2017) by Knopf/Doubleday and Summer for the Taking (2014) by Bookshelf Editions. A third novel will be published in May 2026 by Shipwreckt Books.
